Rebecca R. Schafer

Rebecca has nearly a decade of experience in representing doctors, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare providers in litigation including personal injury, contract, and regulatory matters. She also has a background in product liability defense, notably obtaining a dismissal on summary judgment in such a case in June 2015, a rare occurrence under Kentucky’s legal standard. Originally from Minnesota, Rebecca graduated from the College of Saint Benedict cum laude with a B.A. in Computer Science. Prior to obtaining her law degree from the University of Minnesota in 2007, she worked as a Software Engineer for Thomson Reuters, providing her with a technical edge that comes in handy for e-discovery issues.

Rebecca moved to Kentucky in 2007 and began practicing in the area of long-term care defense. She has been recognized from 2013 – 2017 by Kentucky Super Lawyers as one of the top rated health care defense attorneys in Kentucky and as Louisville Outstanding Volunteer Attorney in 2010. In addition to the practice of law, she also enjoys serving on the Hosparus Gala Planning Committee, attempting to golf as a member of the Executive Women’s Golf Association, and volunteering with Louisville Legal Aid Society. Rebecca serves as an officer for the Kentucky Bar Association Board of Governors and Chair of the KBA Young Lawyers Division Executive Committee.
