Melissa has dedicated her legal career to defending healthcare providers. She is passionate about her work and brings a unique perspective, as her background includes both private law firm practice and serving as in-house counsel. Prior to joining Dzenitis Newman, Melissa was the Vice President of Litigation & Risk Services for a large healthcare company, where she managed a team of attorneys, paralegals, nurses, and support staff to provide guidance, counsel, and legal services across the company’s portfolio.
Additionally, Melissa was responsible for the oversight of cases assigned to outside counsel and understands the crucial role they play in zealously defending cases in litigation.
Prior to going in-house, Melissa was a partner at a large, nationally recognized, law firm where she managed a sizable volume of complex healthcare litigation on behalf of corporate and individual defendants. She is well versed in all facets of defending healthcare providers from pre-suit investigation to trial. Melissa’s work in this field has garnered the respect of her peers and she was honored as a Kentucky Super Lawer Rising Star in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
