Originally from Madison, Indiana, Erika received her law degree from the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver in 2017. While at the University of Denver, she participated in mock trial, coached a trial team at a local high school, and was a member of the Criminal Defense Clinic. Erika’s case was the only case in the clinic that was tried to verdict, and a not guilty verdict was returned. She obtained her bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Sociology from Purdue University, where she was a member of the Honor’s College of Liberal Arts.
Prior to joining Dzenitis Newman, Erika worked as a Senior Deputy State Public Defender for the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office. She defended hundreds of cases including felony cases, misdemeanor cases, and juvenile cases. She represented clients on charges ranging from petty offenses to first degree felonies. Erika tried dozens of cases to verdict in multiple Colorado State Courts.
Outside of practicing law, Erika is an avid Purdue Basketball fan and enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her Golden Retriever, Molly.
